When diplomacy has its limits…

Despite raising this case at the highest levels, including during a PM trip to China, pro-democracy campaigner Jimmy Lai has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by Chinese authorities.

There’s not much that diplomats can do, except to carry on with lobbying.
